My professional experience spans a few decades. As an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse (APRN) my Private Practice serves patients with psychotherapy and prescriptions.
I see individuals, couples, and families, with ages ranging from 16-65+. My theoretical and clinical approach endorses Psychodynamic Object Relations relationship therapy, grief therapy and crisis Intervention. Treatment planning is dependent on the clinical needs of the patient, couple, or family.
I have supervised and enjoyed working with many PMH graduate students and APRN Interns, and other mental health therapists. Currently my practice is through telehealth and so my practice is not conducive to supervising and mentoring graduate students.
I am a member of the Utah Nurses Association, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association; the Utah Nurse Practitioner Association. I served on the UNA Governmental Relations Committee, APNA Board of Directors and the Nurse Practice Act Task Force.
My Faculty appointments are with the University of Utah College of Nursing (Assistant Clinical Professor) and I have supervised and lectured students at Westminster College School of Nursing
As a member of the Nurse Practice Act Task Force I played a major leadership role in the advancement of the scope of practice for all advanced practice nurses, including allowing legislative changes for prescriptive practice for all APRNs. Some say I pioneered efforts to achieve independent third party reimbursement for PMH Nurses and promoted the licensure designation of APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse).
I support interdisciplinary collegiality, networking and collaboration with all levels of Nursing practice and between nurses and other professional disciplines.
